About Us:-
Oriental & Siamese:
Hi my name is Roeleen Bloemhof, I started breeding
Siamese and Oriental in 2004. My original breeding stock was based on
lines received from local breeders. We were fortunate to have a sister
who also bred cats. She helped us with 2 Orientals and Alika's Cattery
also gifted us a stunning blue tortie girl. These cats can be found in
our pedigrees still today.
Jangar Cattery was
kind enough to send us 6 Orientals that was used in conjunction with the
other cats we had.
This really settled our breeding for the next four years. We then were
fortunate enough to build alliances with reputalbe local and
international breeders, they are trully assisting with helping
Mistbesque continue it's breeding coals.
We have place our current breeding lines within other catteries who have been
influential in advancing the South African Orientals and Siamese, in
other catteries.
Currently we await the future with great anticipation.
soon we will add new orientals/siamese from
Finland (Chickitty) and Germany (Siamesis)!
Cornish Rex:
Later in 2004, we acquired 2 very sweet Cornish
rex cats from Agnieszka Solomon the breeder of the Conqueror cats who
are very well known in the Cornish Rex Breeding world wide.
Later on we received more cats from her who has been very influential in
our breeding.
Since 2004 we have been fortunate to breed outstanding cats from Blanche
(Conqueror Pure Blanche) and one of these babies went on to win 2007
CFSA Cat of the Years.
Blanche is such a happy kitty and loves raising her babies. this has
been passed down to her next generation.
Later on Conqueror Cattery went into hiatus and agnieszka was so kind to
lend her imported cats as well as some of her other lines.
Included in this was Windseeker Zed Upwind and Beaconwood Fire.
We were sad that when Avante Garde Cattery decided to stop breeding
however, they allowed us to adopt Heatwave Steely Dan and Darling-Isis
Dodo.
These two boys have been great as breeding studs and were very sought
after cats. Their kittens and grandchildren can be found in many
catteries worldwide. With the two boys came a stunning girl Windseeker
Wendabeth Gale. She was our first cat who got to the final in the World
of Dogs and Cats arena. However we never had a baby from Wendabeth.
Our First Cornish Rex import came from Harri Saari (Sweetpurr's) in
Finland. Her name is Sweetpurrs Ceylon Gardens she is a blue eyed black
van we are truly grateful to Harri for sending us our blue eyed honey.
We are excited about our Cornish rex breeding program and thoroughly
enjoy working with local and international breeders to better the look
of the South African Cornish Rex. Soon we will ad another cornish stud
to our current line up of studs
Peterbald
Mariette of La Maska imported the cute not so fluffly orientals in 2007.
I
immediatly fell in love with this cute, very over affectionate breed
related to the oriental and siamese. I since then had to have one of my
own.
Mariette has done a lot of work to establish the breed in
South Africa. I have been fortunate enough to have a close view of what
she has done and how she handles the breed. I truly hope that i will be
able to compliment the work that she has done for the breed within the
Southern African Cat Fancy.
I would like to thank Christina from Arbodiel Cattery for the trust she
has had in me, allowing me to have one of her babies. I am sure this
little brush coat will produce stunning velour babies. I am
confident with the help of those dedicated to the breed, I will be able to assist
and develop the look of this very young breed. We will expect our first
babies only late 2011.
General
My favorite saying is that cats are like chocolates and you cant just
have one.
But there came into my life a very special little kitten. Her name is
Kioko Cookie Monster. This little kitten really became my soul cat
within a few days from being with me. Loosing her made me really think
hard about breeding. (She died during a tragic accident in my house on 14 July 2009
at 08:14, after which I sat with her for two hours in my arms crying
like my life ended right there and then).
When she died I realized what lines and breeding is truly about. It is not
about the pedigree but about the love that such a kitten bestow on its
owner. No cat asks if it is pedigreed or not. All cats just ask to be
loved.
As breeders we put so many restrictions on cats and we so scared that
other people are going to get our lines.
But what does it mean for the breeds we love?:-
Does it mean that we are going to demise our gene pool?
How would we feel when our dear loved pedigreed cats become extinct
How does it feel to place a kitten with a time bomb waiting to explode
in its kidneys, heart and liver?
It is not the pedigree that gives that healthy cats, but how we raise
the cats.
Do we judge the people who so dearly just want to own a cat? or do we
allow them to love one of our kittens?
It does not mean that we wont screen potential kitten owners but it means
we will give all a equal opportunity to meet with us and for us all to
decide if we should form a alliance and allow one of our babies to move
to the new potential owner.
With Ehrin (Kioko Cookie Monster) I realized why we breed. and
it is not about the pedigree, it is not about winning on the show bench.
It is about nothing else but HAVING THAT LITTLE SOUL GIVING ITSELF
UNCONDITIONALLY TO US. Ehrin will always live on in our hearts for now
and forever!
Therefore I take a pledge to breed Healthy, Happy Well Socialized
kittens and allow other people to love them the same way i do. That is
what breeding should be all about.
We don't know what the future will deal us but we are sure that it is
going to be a exciting time, to preserve, protect love our cats and
breed healthy cats for other breeders and pet owners.
We breed proudly
under the Governing Eye of the South African Cat Council since 2004.
Our Cattery is also registered with the Wordl Cat Federation and we show
with the South aFrican Club CASA and its sub clubs.
